Abstract:
In the present article, you will find an exploration of the intersection between cinema, psychoanalysis, and statistics, using the film Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, directed by Bennett Miller, as a starting point. The team’s manager, the film’s protagonist, revolutionizes the way players are recruited with an innovative method based on statistics, but also taking into account a unique detail about each of the players he recruits. The universal, the particular, and the singular will be three categories that will be central to this article and will serve as our guide for reading the film.
