Abstract
This text summarises the author’s presentation at the film symposium at the 16th International Congress of Research and Professional Practice in Psychology, which took place at the University of Buenos Aires between 27-29 November 2024. A dimension of cinema that is beyond traditional narrative is proposed and analysed to account for the wide range of contemporary social exclusion. As a paradigmatic example of this non-narrative cinema, the work of Fernand Deligny is presented, who developed a cinema of poetic structure, in which the successive scenes do not present a diaphanous and organised story, but rather force us to seek some sense of direction in the face of a sequence of images of extreme intensity and without apparent continuity.
