Abstract
A disturbing dream narrated by Lewis Carroll becomes by hands of Tim Burton, in a nightmare and then on a regular adventure subject to strict compliance with all the features of the genre. What is this mechanism by which the disturbing original work became a traditional fantastic adventure? In this short essay I attempt to show that there is a shift towards a fantastic, dreamlike language in detriment of the logical language of the original work and that in doing so, neglects the central element on which Carroll structured a sophisticated type of satire used to ridicule some of the cumbersome mechanisms of human rationality, language and society.
